Welcome to the 2011-2012 ‘Moving FORWARD With Kids’ SWIS Optimist Year!
Your club has had many successful achievements in the past year and now we move FORWARD into a new year. I wish to inspire you to set your goals high for even greater service to youth, your community, and your Optimist Club. By your attitude, example, and actions we can ‘Move Forward” as individuals and as an organization for the next generation. Our legacy will be the guidance, leadership, advice, love, empowerment, and patience that we show for those we serve.
We have a GREAT SWIS Team of optimists. I’ve met a lot of you while traveling around visiting clubs and really appreciate all the support you’ve given to me personally and to the SWIS organization. We are all in this together for the future of the ‘Kids’ that we serve for the next generation.
The International President Elect, Jack Creswell continues with the same logo “Bringing Out the Best in Kids” and added “100% and then some”. The Milwaukee International Convention, which will be held in July 2012, has a logo of “Meet Milwaukee”. The SWIS 11-12 logo “Moving Forward With Kids” inspires:

The SWIS Mission is to “achieve the vision of the District through a dedicated network of members committed to service of its members, youth, and communities”. We can achieve the SWIS 11-12 vision by ‘Moving Forward” together as a SWIS Team through:
1) Personal Growth/Training;
2) Communication;
3) Involvement through planned programs; and
4) Growth in membership.
SWIS Conferences: Meet fellow optimists, learn about SWIS programs, share ideas in round tables on club issues, leadership development training, share enthusiasm/optimism for clubs, programs provided by kids, any other areas of interest, please share those with me. Conferences scheduled are:

As part of ‘Moving Forward’, the International Recognition Program from OI has been set for 5 years starting on October 1st, 2011. With the Honor Club requirements of 3 service projects, recognizing a club member, growing the club by net plus 1 and being current on District and OI dues, it would be GREAT if all the clubs would be able to achieve that GOAL.
Our growth in Optimism also becomes part of our personal family. My husband Gene & I have 3 grown sons, Sean, Ryan, & Tyler, 2 daughter-in-laws and 3 grand-children. We enjoy spending time with each of them and watching them grow in their personal lives, hoping to leave a legacy with each of them. We grow together, not only WITH our personal families but also WITH the lives we touch as we Move ForWard in 2011-2012.
Accept the challenge for this next year by reaching out, asking questions, participating, growing as individuals, and touching the life of another human being along the way. We are all in this together, so let’s make 11-12 a great year for ourselves, the kids we serve, and the SWIS Optimist organization.
